Description

The FR Carbon 4x80/243mm is designed for skaters looking for the combination of carbon construction, a larger 80mm wheel setup and a choice between Rockered and Flat configurations.

With four 80mm wheels and a 243mm frame length, this setup provides a larger and more supportive platform than shorter freestyle frames. The longer wheelbase can provide greater directional stability while still retaining the control of a four-wheel configuration, making it an interesting option for skaters who want more support under the foot without moving to a longer speed-oriented setup.

The biggest difference is the frame configuration.

The Rockered version is the more maneuverable choice. A rockered setup reduces the amount of wheel contact with the ground and makes initiating turns, changing edges and rotating the skate easier. For freestyle slalom, this translates into a setup that feels more agile and allows greater freedom during transitions, turns, footwork and other technical movements.

The Flat version takes the opposite approach. With all four wheels providing contact with the surface, it offers a more stable and predictable platform. This makes it particularly suitable for urban skating, where directional stability, control and consistent contact are valuable when dealing with different surfaces, longer sections and higher speeds.

Both versions use the same 243mm length, 4x80mm wheel configuration and 165mm mounting. The choice therefore comes down primarily to the skating characteristics you want: Rockered for greater maneuverability and technical freedom, or Flat for a more stable and planted feel.

Carbon construction is another major advantage. FR states that its carbon frames provide excellent stiffness while being, on average, 25% lighter than traditional aluminium frames. The combination of lower weight and stiffness contributes to quicker acceleration, efficient energy transfer and a more responsive skating sensation.

For a Latin American freestyle slalom skater, the 4x80/243mm platform is especially interesting if you want to work with larger wheels while maintaining a technical four-wheel setup. The Rockered version prioritizes maneuverability for slalom; the Flat version gives you a more stable platform for urban and freeskate use.
